Hundreds of Bridgeview residents gathered at Commissioner’s Park on the evening of July 3rd for the Park District’s annual 3rd of July fireworks celebration. Independence Day festivities were at an all-time high, with fabulous food, and a special appearance from the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile.
Families and fans alike could not resist taking pictures with the legendary motor vehicle, some of which even knew the legendary 1973 commercial jingle. The Wienermobile and its crew brought activities for children to partake in, such as ring toss and fun costumes for photo opportunities.
As children continued to play with limitless energy, parents set up their picnic blankets and lawn chairs as the sun set. It was a night full of anticipatory energy, waiting for the marvelous show to begin.
At 9:15PM, DJ Mike went on the microphone to announce it was time for the show to begin. Instantaneously, songs from the classic American artists Johnny Cash and Bruce Springsteen began. The crowd cheered as beautiful fireworks were fired into the air. Blue, green, red, purple, and even gold colors shot into the night sky.
As the show went on, the fireworks got bigger. Both 3-inch shells and 4-inch shells were fired throughout the final stages. The looks of awe and inspiration covered the crowd.
As the final fireball blew into the air above, the attendees couldn’t help but clap and cheer. The Village of Bridgeview thanks those who contributed to making the night so special.
