The Chicago Red Stars will play their first home game of their 2024 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) season at SeatGeek Stadium on Saturday, March 23rd at 3:00pm. Heading into the year, the Red Stars have filled open positions with fresh talent and are launching into a fierce training program under newly appointed head coach Lorne Donaldson, the former head of the Jamaican Women’s National Team during their historic World Cup run. Donaldson is joined by the experienced new assistant coach Ella Masar, a former Red Star herself who is undoubtedly dedicated to the success of the team.
As many residents saw at the Chicago Red Stars Bridgeview Night, the team is composed of dependable fighters willing to put in the effort to win regardless of the situation. New players will surely join in the competitive excellence exemplified by many Red Stars staples who have been retained by the club, such as star goalie Alyssa Naeher and fantastic forward Mallory Swanson whose new contract through 2028 is the most lucrative agreement in the history of the NWSL. The combination of classic Red Stars, skilled acquisitions, and a new coach has many fans and supporters excited about the team’s 2024 potential. Red Stars owner Laura Ricketts and Red Stars President Karen Leetzow hope to build upon the fiery tenacity of the Chicago Red Stars to create a championship culture on and off the pitch while advancing women’s soccer locally and nationally.
