Wrestlers slam their opponents in high-flying action in the ring!

The Bridgeview Park District hosted Freelance Wrestling Academy on Friday, July 18th, for an electrifying wrestling event, drawing a lively crowd from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The evening of professional WWE-style wrestling showcased competitors’ fierce rivalries and spunky personalities as they battled on the mat with skill and determination.

The Park District gymnasium buzzed with excitement as athletes displayed impressive technique and stunts, flipping in the ring and keeping fans on the edge of their seats. Spectators cheered loudly, fueling the wrestlers’ energy. The event was not only an entertaining test of athleticism but also a celebration of community spirit.

Community is important to Freelance Wrestling founder Nick Almendarez who stated that, “Freelance is changing the narrative of what wrestling is supposed to be.” Freelance Wrestling Academy is dedicated to fostering young, passionate wrestlers and creating an inclusive and supportive community where they can thrive.

Freelance’s Bridgeview local, Stone Ambrose, performed at the event. Stone has been wrestling for just over two years and says it is one of his greatest passions. His wrestling persona is inspired by a dog, earning him the nickname “Good Boy.” His character is often motivated by a tennis ball like a feisty puppy, and he fights like one too. During the event, Stone went head-to-head with basketball-themed wrestler Darius Latrell. Stone joked before the match, “I am going up against a 6’8 man who has beaten me in the past before... I’m 5’7 on a good day.” Despite the height difference, Stone Ambrose pulled through and won the fight, triumphantly holding his tennis ball to the sky in celebration.

The entertaining event reinforces Bridgeview Park District’s commitment to providing engaging sports opportunities for all ages. With wildly vibrant competitors and a joyful crowd, the event was a clear success, promising more exciting athletic showcases in the future.
