Filled SeatGeek Stadium for Chivas vs. León

The Liga MX Chivas de Guadalajara and Club León soccer match completely packed Seatgeek Stadium with some of Chicagoland’s most passionate fans this past Saturday. Primetime Sports “Tour Rebaño” sold out weeks ahead of its September 9th matchup date for the two popular Mexican teams which drew a crowd of over 20,000 fans! From start to finish there was plenty of excitement and fun to be had at SeatGeek Stadium.

The day started off strong as dozens of cars poured into the lot ready to celebrate their teams. As early as 1:30PM the sound of radios, speakers, and live music consumed the air over the parking lot as guests formed their own parties in the lot. At 2PM the pre-game Tour Rebaño Fan Fest opened its gates and treated fans to music, delicious food options, and fun activations from the Red Stars, Verizon, Modelo, La Que Buena 105.1FM, Ticketón and many more that kept the attendees engaged before the main event. The highlight of the Fan Fest was an opportunity to meet and get autographs from former Chivas legend Joel “El Tiburón” Sánchez who really elevated the experience.

The match kicked off at 6:30PM, and by that time the sold-out crowd was already pumped up to see Chivas go head to head with Club León. Chivas fans were particularly enthusiastic as they dominated the stands with their white and red shirts. Fortunately for Chivas fans their team delivered the performance they were looking for.

The first goal of the game was scored by “Chicote” Calderón at the 35 minute mark. A strong kick sent the ball cleanly past the left side of León’s goalie, breaking the 0-0 tie and shifting the momentum in favor of the Chivas. The stands instantly broke into cheer and overpowered the announcer yelling “GOOAAL!”. By halftime the score was 1-0 favoring the Chivas.

Ten minutes after halftime, the Chivas struck again. “Chapito” Sánchez headed the ball with enough speed that León’s goalie had no time to react, and the shot flew into the bottom right pocket of the net, sending the crowd into another frenzy. The thunderous cheering from the fans didn’t perturb León, as they held their ground against the Chivas for the rest of the game despite being unable to make a comeback. The Chivas de Guadalajara walked away with a solid 2-0 victory over León and gave fans and Prime Time Sports viewers an entertaining and skillful display.
