In the spirit of Independence Day, American flags were installed throughout major intersections along Harlem Avenue. Bridgeview Mayor Steven Landek and Park District Treasurer Mariam Ahmad observed the installation of flags outside Mama Luigi’s Restaurant and Banquets at 75th & Harlem on the morning of June 30th to ensure the project remained on track.
To put up each flag, a worker enters the cherry picker truck’s railed platform which is raised to the height where the flag is attached to the pool. Then, the flag is fastened into the slot and tightened into place. The installed flags were able to swivel, preventing them from being tangled and enhancing their visibility.
