On Tuesday, August 6th, the Village of Bridgeview held its biggest-ever annual National Night Out from 5pm-7pm at Village Hall. The free-to-attend “Community Day” event gave hundreds of residents the chance to meet their local Bridgeview Police Officers, Firefighters, and other Village employees to bond and build community together.

The first attendees to arrive received free Community Day shirts to mark the fun occasion, and everyone was quick to notice the smell of burgers and hot dogs being grilled and distributed by our firefighters. The Lyons Club of Bridgeview was happy to serve freshly popped popcorn to hungry residents waiting in line for their free food and refreshments, and Bridgeview Business Melt n Dip satisfied the craving for dessert with their delicious flavors of gelato.

When children weren’t spraying the fire hose or gliding down the inflatable slide, they were enjoying the free toys, police badges, and fire hats being given out. Kids also couldn’t help but excitedly run to meet the goats, llama, and ducks at the petting zoo, take a ride on the pony carousel, get their faces painted, and request ballon-twisted creations. For Bridgeview families, the touch-a-truck vehicles, free squad car rides, and free fire truck rides proved to be hits that served as both fun and educational experiences.

“I’m thankful that the Village was able to put on such an inviting and successful Community Day,” said Mayor Steven Landek. “It’s wonderful to see so many smiling residents come together for an evening of community-building.”

The Village of Bridgeview Board of Trustees, Clerk Altar, and Mayor Landek thank the employees, community partners, and residents for reminding us all that we’re stronger together.
