The following press release was issued by the Illinois Department of Transportation.

“The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that an improvement project on Harlem Avenue between 76th and 90th streets in Bridgeview will require intermittent lane closures beginning, weather permitting, Monday, March 24.

The $7 million project, which includes intersection widening, modernizing traffic signals and constructing new ADA-compliant sidewalk ramps along Harlem Avenue at 78th, 79th, 83rd, 84th, 87th, 88th/Southfield Shopping Center Drive and 90th/Cambridge streets, is anticipated to be completed in late October.

Throughout construction, at least one lane in both directions will remain open. Access to residences and businesses within the work zone will be maintained.

The public should expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Alternative routes are encouraged. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.”
