The D.A.R.E. students pose for a picture on the SeatGeek Stadium field after the game!

Over 100 Bridgeview Elementary School and Lyle Elementary School students from 6th grade classes recently graduated from their D.A.R.E. programs, and their essay winners received free tickets to the May 25th Chicago Red Stars game at SeatGeek Stadium. The Village of Bridgeview provided a suite for the children to enjoy the game and enabled them to take a picture on the field after the game as a reward for their efforts in the program that the Bridgeview Police Department has been teaching for over 30 years.

District 109 School Resource Officer Christopher Pell, who teaches the program, explained its goals and the impact he believes it has on students. “The Drug Abuse Resistance Education course material has been updated significantly in recent years to better address what our youth are dealing with now, including cyber bullying, online predators, and peer pressure, and I know that the students also come away from the program feeling more comfortable with law enforcement.”
