Chicago Hounds scrumhalf Nick McCarthy barrels fearlessly into the San Diego Legion.

The Chicago Hounds officially secured their spot in the 2024 MLR playoffs after their dominant performance against Anthem RC, proving they are truly a force to be reckoned with in Major League Rugby. The beloved team’s 2024 regular season officially ended with their eighth and final home game on June 29th against the Miami Sharks, closing out their third year of existence with a win and a solid season performance. The team’s showing drastically improved this year, demonstrating that they have put in the time and dedication to bolster their abilities and build a successful rugby team. 

The ferocious Hounds bared their fangs even against difficult teams, recently beating the San Diego Legion by six and earlier losing to the Houston Sabercats by only one point. Hounds Fans watched their team both win commandingly as well as draw and lose matches by extremely close margins, highlighting the team’s competitive status. Even small fixes could lead to even more wins next season, and fans always offer enthusiasm about the team’s current direction. The Hounds finished 6th out of 12 teams with a record of 8 wins, 7 losses, and 1 draw, putting them in the very respectable upper half of the pack in the league after a strong year. Now, they’ll battle it out against NOLA Gold in New Orleans on July 21st in the Semi-Finals of the Eastern Conference. 

Many Bridgeview residents have taken advantage of the free tickets to certain Hounds games at SeatGeek Stadium and have seen the exciting game of rugby unfold before their eyes amid cheers from loyal fans.
