Hundreds of Bridgeview residents gathered at Commissioners Park in the evening for the Park District’s annual 3rd of July fireworks celebration, and the Independence Day festivities offered fun for the whole family. Food trucks lined the streets as attendees explored their delicious food options. Kids full of energy played on the colorful park equipment or hula hooped with the hoops provided by the Park District. Families set up their lawn chairs and tossed bean bags as the sun slowly set. A beautiful evening of laughter and relaxation led up to the 9:15pm fireworks display that would wow everyone.
The sounds of canons firing their projectiles into the air preceded the small sparks of color that began to light the sky. A taste of the show to come garnered ‘ooh’s and ‘ah’s from the children looking up to the heavens in wonder and awe. Soon the once-quiet pops echoing into the night grew louder as bright gleams burst out of the darkness and painted the canvas of the atmosphere. Brilliant shades of red, blue, orange, and more struck across the sky in glimmers and streaks as the audience sat rapt in amazement. The whistling of rockets shot one after another dominated the otherwise silent airwaves before the booms of huge, dazzling explosions took control. Radiant flashes and sparkles of color came again and again, mesmerizing all who saw them.
As the tempo of colorful bursts increased, so did the anticipation for the display to come. Blast after blast of beautiful flares finally crescendoed into a sensational sequence of brilliant and blinding explosions that completely lit up the night sky. As the final sparks faded away, residents clapped and cheered in appreciation for the wonderful show before happily heading home with their families.
