Illinois State Senate President Don Harmon has appointed Village of Bridgeview Trustee Kalid Baste to the Illinois Muslim American Advisory Council. The purpose of the council is to advise the Governor and the General Assembly on policy issues impacting Muslim Americans, to advance the role of civic participation, and to enhance trade and cooperation between other countries and Illinois. Due to his work with non-profits along with his work with businesses in Bridgeview and beyond, Trustee Baste was recommended to the position by Senator Mike Porfirio.
“The extensive experience of Trustee Baste made him an excellent candidate for this role, and I’m glad that his knowledge will be used to benefit both our community and the state of Illinois,” said Senator Porfirio.
The Village of Bridgeview Board of Trustees also commended Trustee Baste for his appointment, which they said will highlight Bridgeview voices and serve all Illinois residents well. “We extend our congratulations to Trustee Baste and know he will represent our community with honor.”
