Registering animals with the Village ensures that pets living in your community are vaccinated against rabies. Rabies is a viral infection of the nervous system which is transmitted through the saliva of a cat or dog by biting another animal or human. Within a short amount of time, rabies will cause the affected animal or human to have swelling of the brain and lead to severe illness or death if not treated promptly.

All mammals—that means dogs, cats, possums, raccoons, coyotes and humans—are able to contract rabies. Rabies shots are administered by all veterinarians, and they will then issue you a rabies tag. That county rabies tag number must be provided to Bridgeview before we issue a pet tag.

This is about the safety of your animal and the humans or other animals your pet will come in contact with! Let’s enjoy summer and venture outdoors with our pets while making sure they have their rabies shot and Bridgeview pet tag. It is our responsibility to make sure our furry friends are safe and healthy!
